Tips for Writing a Good Non-Fiction Story

.)  You are still telling a story. What story do you want to tell? Think about this before you start.

.)  Who is your main character? Maybe it’s you and maybe it’s someone else.

.)  What happens to the main character in the story? What is the ‘arc’ of the story?

.)  A lot of non-fiction stories have a lot of emotion in them. Use emotional language when you write your story. Ask yourself what kind of ‘feeling’ are you trying to write about? How would you describe that feeling?

.)  Does your story have an ending? If so, plan it and think about how you will get there as you write your beginning and middle. (Because it’s non-fiction, it might not have an ending and might just be factual.)
